My four-year-old's obsession with volcanoes

My son has been asking for a volcano, so that is what I am working on. I got some photos of the Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica and I am loosely basing this current work on that. No lava flow, but a dynamic sunset and a bit of ash and steam coming from the top.

I am done with it now, as you can see... and while I have hated it at times I think I have come to live with it...

Another painting

Cloudy Day
16 x 12 inches
Oil on canvas panel
$75, shipping included for continental US

I actually got a painting done today, despite a really bad night of sleep, an injured back and a really grumpy two-year-old. I guess I needed the creative exercise... I am very pleased with my clouds in this one.... not sure the rest is as good!

Magnolia # 2

Magnolia II
11 x 14 inches
Oil on stretched canvas
NOT AVAILABLE

I will post a new photo when it dries more, the liquid clear has such a glare that I cannot use a flash, and then it does not focus well. The last few photos have not done justice to my clouds, I do not think. I tried the magnolia again and am happier with it, still not thrilled with the attempted weeping cherry.

This will be my last post for a few days, we are heading to SC tomorrow for vacation and a family reunion, but I do plan on doing some watercolors while down there.

waterfall #3

Waterfalls
11 x 14 inches
Oil on Stretched Canvas
$ 60, shipping included in continental US

I have just gessoed a canvas with some black gesso and will try another waterfall. I did one in class, and another for Al a few months back. Both turned out well, but I am hoping to improve upon my previous efforts.... Hopefully I will get a photo up today.

OK, as you can see I did finish it so here it is...
